Course Description

Explores the historical and contemporary links between fashion and technology. Garments, artists, designers, institutions and projects relevant to technological explorations within the fashion context is discussed. Research and experiments conducted with the Fashion School’s TechStyleLAB. Students acquire fundamental research skills for fashion technology and develop their own web presence.


Course Objectives

Through successful completion of classroom and independent lab activities it is expected that you will become proficient using digital fabrication software and hardware for input and output.

Skills that may be explored in this course:
• digitization for 2D and 3D objects
• designing for laser cutting
• 3D printing: basics in modeling and output
• case study ideation
• body-scanning and developing a custom 1/4 scale dress form
